In the upper left of this photo are the wheels you would find on a steel coaster. The large white ones are the (harder) Road Wheels, and the smaller brown ones on the right are the (softer) Side-Rollers. The road wheels will usually last a couple seasons, whereas the side rollers and safety wheels can often need to be replaced during the season. The road wheels are harder because they support the vertical load of the train, and must be stronger to support the weight, and the side rollers are softer to provide a smoother, quieter ride. The rest of the metal parts above are wheel housing axles from a Schwarzkopf looping coaster. |

Each entire coaster car is gone over every winter. Everything is
checked and repaired such as upholstery, lap bars, wheels & bearings, hitches, seat
belts, NDT to the wheel housings, car frames, etc. and replacing bolts, sand blasting,
re-painting, and even replacing old wood pieces or panels, as seen in the photo on the
left. |
