Now begins the fun part...building the structure.
Here are Pete and Claire again, measuring and cutting the wood planks that connect the
legs of the coaster.
No, Pete and Claire aren't the only two people building the ride. |

Dick is standing on two different
sections. As you can see, the coaster is actually put together on the ground. Then
after it is bolted together, like you see Pete doing below, each section is picked up with
a crane and hoisted into place. |

The caulking tube that Claire is holding is filled with a
fire inhibiting adhesive which is pasted between the layers as indicated by the black line
next to "A." Thousands of tubes were used because South Whitehall Township
wanted to believe it would keep the coaster from burning quickly. Claire and Delmas
were both project supervisors, pictured above.
Claire Hain now owns his own coaster company, "Great Coasters
International" out of Pennsylvania. Here, he worked for Charlie Dinn, who has
since retired. Charlie's daughter Denise now has her own coaster company, "Custom
Coasters Interational" out of Ohio. I must apologize for some of the
photos being a little dark, but my only time for taking photos was at the end of the day
after I got off work. |
